The Call to Action provides the breastfeeding community with a comprehensive framework with specific action items that when executed can empower breastfeeding moms. During the road trip, we will personalize each of these key actions by compiling videos highlighting stories of breastfeeding moms and organizations that are taking action. These videos will generate significant awareness for The Surgeon General's Call to Action while promoting specific ways that Americans can take action in their own city or town.
Given the importance of breastfeeding for the health and well-being of mothers and children, it is critical that we take action across the country to support breastfeeding. Women who choose to breastfeed face numerous barriers. Only through the support of family members, communities, clinicians, health care systems, and employers will we be able to make breastfeeding become the easy choice, the default choice. This section describes the recommended actions and their associated implementation strategies in detail.
